These are some of our guardian angels.
Ambassador Eoin O’Leary
Ambassador O’Leary has been to visit our projects recently, himself and his lovely wife Ann were extremely impressed by the children and the work of the the TRWL team, both Irish and Russian.
Ambassador Peshkov is the Russian Ambassador to Ireland, we are so lucky to have him in Ireland, he is a wonderful Ambassador, a great supporter of the work of TRWL, and of course he is the grandson of the famous author Maxim Gorky.
Andrei has been a friend of Debbie’s for many years. They met in Ireland when Andrei was doing research for his famous Russian TV show “Lets talk”, they have been close friends ever since. Andrei knows TRWL’s work in detail, he has met the children many times, he helps Debbie in any way he can. Debbie says ‘he is one of the nicest men I know, we are honoured to have him as our Patron”.
Máirtín Ó Dubhghaill
As Debbie wrote in her book “Máirtín Ó Dubhghaill from Inverin in Galway is an incredible man, a born teacher and a big gentle giant whom the children adore. He has built playgrounds for us and painted walls but in general he just plays the guitar every day for the endless circle of children that surround him. Máirtín goes out to the orphanage about three or four times a year.
Avril heads up the Irish Business Club in Moscow, she is a huge support to Debbie and a huge supporter of To Children With Love. Avril has been doing incredible work in Russia for over 20 years.
Peter was a very special young man, he was a friend of Debbie’s and friend to TRWL for many years. He had the vision to purchase a large flat for our children where they live to this day after they leave their orphanages behind at 18. He had the heart of a lion it was most unusual for a young man of his age to understand the needs of parentless children, Peters kindness has sheltered many and prepared them for the next step of their difficult journey. RIP Peter, and thank you.
Maria is the founder of an incredible organisation in Moscow called ENS, English Nursery School. She is a force of energy, her caring attitude, her willingness to give, her trust, her love for our children is hard to replicate. Her own schools are centres of pure excellence, extremely lucky children get through these doors, her staff are dedicated to children and their education. Her daughter Anna is a uniquely kind friend to many of our children also, both Maria and Anna go the extra mile, and without doubt have helped to keep us alive during the worst of times. We cannot thank Both Maria and Anna for their extreme kindness, we are honoured to be both their friends and colleagues.
